Robots Now Can Understand Human Thoughts With Error Related Potentials

Scientists are preparing robots that can be more like us. Yes, research is going on to control machines and make them more natural like human beings.

Tech Times reported that previously scientists tried to build robots to create a relationship with a human being but the result was not satisfactory at all. A team of researchers at the MIT's Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory jointly with the Boston University have created a breakthrough in this arena. The scientists have invented a new response system.

This response system includes EEG or electroencephalography cap that can establish a communication between humans and the computer programmable machines. The users can wear the caps to deliver their brain movements to the robots in a few seconds. This new invention creates a major way of development in modern science.

Daniela Rus, the Director of MIT's CSAIL, opines that the said cap can control robot without using a word or command. The scientists use a robot named Baxter to perform the study. The robot was ordered to carry some essential works.

The key part of this new system is to make it possible for the robots to access the human controller's thoughts. The controller can detect any mistake and send the message to this computer programmable machine to modify. This unique process helps them to produce more error free results while performing essential tasks.

The researchers have created ErrPs or error-related potentials to make the working ability of the robots more perfect. Actually, ErrPs are the brain signals that exist in human minds and can work normally. The signals work automatically to make humans familiar about their mistakes.
