Kim Kardashian is Armenian? KK, Kanye West & Khloe Remember Genocide in Armenia with Visit

Kim Kardashian and her family visited the memorial complex in Armenia by laying red tulips in somber commemoration last Friday.

Visiting together with the reality star were her husband Kanye West, sister Khloe and two cousins, Kourtni and Kara, according to the Chicago Tribune.

The Kardashian sisters have Armenian ancestry from their father's side. As part of their eight-day tour to their ancestor's homeland, the group visited the eternal flame of the Armenian Genocide Memorial Complex at Yerevan, the capital of Armenia. Kim was seen laying a bouquet of red tulips near the eternal flame and as they stood in silence, Khloe was seen wiping away her tears, according to the Daily Mail UK. The group also listened to Suren Manukian, the deputy director of the Genocide Institute give a talk.

The 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide will be on April 24. The mass killings started on 1915 and ended in 1917 during World War I by Ottoman soldiers during the fall of the Ottoman Empire. The genocide, as termed by historians yielded over 1.5 million deaths.

According to an article by PEOPLE magazine, the Armenian government reacted positively to the famous clan's visit.

"Kim Kardashian is a world-famous woman, and we should be proud to see the world's attention focused on Armenia," said Galust Sahakyan, speak of the Armenian National Assembly, in a report made by Azatutyun, a radio station in Armenia.

"We like to gossip even about the best things," Sahakyan added. "She is very popular, and we should host her decently."

Kim K's visit to Armenia is highly documented through social media and with her 77 million followers in Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook, it could help promote Armenia and display its tourism potential. According to Levon Martirosyan, a lawmaker of the Republic Party of Armenia, her visit raises the profile of Armenia and makes the 100-year anniversary of the Armenian mass killings be known throughout the whole world.

The Armenian Prime Minister also praised the Kardashians for remembering their roots. Their visit contributes to the international recognition of Armenia and of the Armenian Genocide, according to Public Radio of Armenia during last Thursday's meeting.

The sisters, accompanied with their cousins Kara and Kourtni, also met with the Armenian Prime Minister Hovik Abrahamyan, last Thursday.

The Kardashian's emotional visit to their motherland will be shown in an episode of Keeping Up with the Kardashians, according to the PEOPLE magazine.
