When Microsoft has released their Surface Pro 3, it has been declared as the best tablet that can replace any available laptops in the market. However, several gadgets aficionados and techie geeks are claiming that once the Surface Pro 4 has been unveiled, its features and specifications will be beaten well off the ballpark due to rumors of this gadget's superior and excellent improvements. Furthermore, if the rumor mill is correct, the unveiling may happen anytime soon--this October to be exact.

According to Microsoft, while Surface Pro 3 boasts of a 12-inch screen with a 2160 x 1440 resolution, 11.5 x 7.93 x 0.36 dimensions, up to a battery life of nine hours inclusive of web browsing and 4th generation Intel Core processor, rumors of a better and highly-competitive specifications make the Surface Pro 4 something unique and special.

Tech Radar writes that according to their sources, the Surface Pro 4 will allegedly launch in two sizes--one that will retain the 12-inch screen on the Surface Pro 3 while the other version will be larger, boasting of a 14-inch screen size, rumored to be the same size as Apple's iPad 4. It is also rumored to have a 2160 x 1440 resolution, similar to the Pro 3, but will have a much-better processor, featuring Intel's Core M Broadwell CPU, just like Apple's latest MacBook, either an i5 or i7 Core.

What more, Microsoft's Surface general manager Brian Hall has apparently released in a company blog that the Pro 3's accessories can also be used with the next versions of the Surface Pro. An update from a Chinese publication 36KR also claims that the casing of the Surface Pro 4 will probably have holes as heat radiation allowance, making it look thinner and sleeker.

Christian Today reports that the upcoming "laplet," as the media is calling the Surface Pro 4, will possibly be featuring a stylus pen, a photographer's dream 3.5-megapixel front camera and 8-megapixel back camera. Best of all, it is rumored to last up to 17 hours and is priced at a reasonable $1700, slightly higher than Pro 3 which retails for as low as $1149.

Although there are no official release date that is confirmed by Microsoft, Yibada is speculating that the Surface Pro 4 will probably be unveiled this October because of three reasons:

  • The highly-anticipated Windows 10 has been introduced to the public last July 29, which will probably enhance the specs of Surface Pro 4 due to its facial recognition feature done by Windows Hello.
  • The Surface Pro 3 is now being discounted in stores and online sites, going as high as $150 slash off the original price. In the official Microsoft site, price has been reduced to $799.
  • The rumor mill is buzzing that the production of the Surface Pro 4 is already being set in place, starting with the hardware parts this coming September.
