Pixar and Walt Disney come together once again for the fourth installment of the beloved movie "Toy Story." Disney's Chief Executive Officer John Lasseter confirmed during this week's D23 Expo that the story will revolve around Woody and Bo Peep.
"Toy Story 4" movie will be about the romance between toy cowboy Woody and doll Bo Peep. Lasseter revealed that the theme of the fourth movie is something that they have not done before.
"At Pixar and at Disney, we only make sequels if we come up with a story that's as good or better than the original," Lasseter told CNBC. "That's our rule. We don't do things just to print money."
There aren't a lot of details yet about the fourth movie other than the movie will be centered on the love story of Woody and Bo Peep.
"Each of the stories is a different genre," Lasseter said via IGN. "And Toy Story 4 is a love story. It's a love story between Woody and Bo Peep. Bo's returned for Toy Story 4. Woody and Buzz head out to find Bo. It's a very, very emotional story, and it's very fun doing a story about [those two characters]."
The Disney Chief CEO promised that they will be introducing information on "amazing" new characters in the future. According to Cinema Blend, Buzz will still take part in the fourth movie.
As for the cast, the website stated that there is no information yet on cast members but Tom Hanks and Tim Allen will most likely be back to voice the Woody and Buzz. There are also rumors that Bonnie from "Toy Story 3" will be back once more.
Lasseter will reportedly direct the fourth movie as he had in the past with the first two "Toy Story" movies, according to Wired. "Toy Story 4" will be released to the public on June 16, 2017.
During Disney's D23 Expo this week at Anaheim, California, Pixar and Disney released information on sequels they have been working for.
In addition to "Toy Story 4," there are three other franchises that have received movie followups, such as "The Incredibles 2" and "Cars 3" and "Finding Dory," a sequel to "Finding Nemo," according to Time. "Finding Dory" is scheduled to be released in theaters on summer of 2016 while "The Incredibles 2" and "Cars 3" do not have release dates yet.
