The post-apocalyptic film 'Mad Max: Fury Road' has been voted as best film of the year by the International Federation of Film Critics (FIPRESCI).

"Mad Max: Fury Road" is directed by George Miller and starred by Tom Hardy as the titular character and Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa. Hugh Keays-Byrne (who played Toecutter in the original) plays Immortal Joe, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as The Splendid Andharad.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, it is the sequel to the earlier "Mad Max" trilogy by Miller played by main star Mel Gibson.

"You could have knocked me over with a feather!" said Miller, according to the report. "It's lovely to have this great cohort of critics acknowledge our collective labors in this way."

The movie which premiered in May this year at the Cannes Film Festival in France was voted by 493 FIPRESCI international critics.

The Australian director will be receiving the award at the San Sebastian film festival in Spain on Sept. 18, according to ABC News. At the same event, attendees will see a special screening "Mad Max: Fury Road" until Sept. 26.

The Guardian reports that Miller will also be writing and directing the fifth movie of the franchise entitled: "Mad Max: The Wasteland."

According to Cinema Blend, other finalists for the award include "Son of Saul; The Assassin," a World War 2 drama directed by Hou Hsiao-hsien and "Taxi" which was directed by Jafar Panahi.

In other news, the new Mad Max game has just been released this week and is now on Steam. According to Tech Radar, the online game platform will also be giving its users an option to watch all "Mad Max" movies including the recently released "Fury Road." The report added that all four films can be bundled with the "Mad Max" game as well.

According to PC Gamer, "Mad Max," "Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior" and "Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome" can now be streamed for £9.99 / $15 each. "Mad Max: Fury Road" is on prepurchase and priced at £13.99 / $20. The website adds that no release date has been announced for the fourth movie but since the Blu-ray and DVD versions will be released on October 5, it might happen by then.

To celebrate the release of the new "Mad Max" game, Entertainment Weekly reports that Uber, in partnership with Warner Bros., will be offering Fury Road-themed rides in downtown Seattle. According to the report, the rides will be free of charge.

Rides from the Warboy Uber drivers will only for four days, from Aug. 28 to Aug. 31 from 10 am to 6 pm.
