Could David Beckham be the new James Bond as Daniel Craig steps down from playing the British agent?
Fans of the football legend are pushing him to be the next James Bond. According to the report by Daily Star, Beckham wants to be an actor.
"I am very aware that many sportsmen and other celebrities have turned their hand to acting and failed. But what I have done so far I have loved," said Beckham, according to the news site. "I can't just jump into roles that are too big for me. I want to build up my experience and see where it takes me."
According to the report by New York Daily News, Daniel Craig, who is the present James Bond, with four movies in and the latest one, "Spectre," to be shown this year, has a contract to make five movies. However, veteran Bond producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson said, according to the outlet, that they will not stop Craig if he is fully intent on leaving.
In an interview with Esquire, Craig was asked if he is to going to do another Bond movie.
"I don't know," Craig told the magazine. "I really don't know. Honestly. I'm not trying to be coy. At the moment I can't even conceive it."
On his road to becoming an actor, the former Manchester United and Real Madrid football star has been cast to have a cameo in a film by his friend Guy Ritchie. According to the Guardian, Beckham will be playing a "grumpy" knight in the upcoming movie "Knights of Roundtable: King Arthur."
Beckham revealed that the experience was "nerve-racking" but eventually found it to be going well.
"I had 13 lines and practised a huge amount beforehand. Guy had someone come and rehearse with me, and I did that an hour every day in the build-up," he explained.
In a report by The Times, Beckham expressed that he needs to have thick skin to be able to go through the challenges of acting and the nature of its profession.
"I know that it is a tough profession, where you need a huge amount of skill and discipline, and I wouldn't want to push myself forward too soon, without learning more about it, and doing a lot more practice. But what I have done so far, I have loved. I can deal with most things. I am a well-known person, so I have got used to criticism."
