Miyamoto Shigeru spoke about the possibility of a third "Super Mario Galaxy" and the near completion of Pikmin 4.

It has been five years since the release of "Super Mario Galaxy 2" and Nintendo's Miyamoto Shigeru expressed that another one may be coming soon in the future. While promoting Super Mario Maker, Shigeru talked about the possibility of "Super Mario Galaxy 3" with Eurogamer.

Shigeru explained that a new Galaxy game is "always in discussion" but because there were reports of motion sickness while playing the game in 3D, Nintendo refocused to traditional 2D games such as the New Super Mario Bros. series because everyone can play it.

"We're always thinking, is there a middle ground where people who do enjoy the 3D worlds of Galaxy and those who enjoy New Super Mario Bros. can both enjoy it? We're always looking at those opportunities," Miyamoto told Eurogamer. "On the other hand, me and [Yoshiaki] Koizumi-san, director of Galaxy, are always looking to challenge Galaxy and do another 3D action title."

He added that Nintendo can't make so many games at once. However, in the future they may build games that have a 2D or 3D option.

"But as the hardware technology gets better and advances, I think there will be a lot of opportunity for both options," said Miyamoto.

The International Business Times reports that in the interview, Miyamoto may be referring to Nintendo's upcoming NX console.

According to Metro, Nintendo's "Super Mario 3D World" that was released in 2013 was an attempt to go in between 2D and 3D.

When asked about the possible platform and hardware for "Super Mario Galaxy 3," Miyamoto revealed that that Wii U would suffice.

"Wii U's definitely good enough in terms of hardware performance, it is more the workload of the team," Miyamoto said in the report by Express. "If you look at Star Fox Zero, the TV and GamePad are both rendered in 60 frames, so in total that's 120 frames. It's really just a matter of the CPU speed at this point.

In other news, real-time strategy game "Pikmin 4" has been confirmed to be near completion according to Nintendo and Miyamoto. However, according to Celeb Cafe, it is unclear if the new "Pikmin" will be released on Wii U, Nintendo 3DS or NX. The details will be revealed on 2016.
