Billionaire and American real estate developer Donald Trump has bought NBCUniversal's share of the Miss Universe Organization and took care of the lawsuits involving the company, spokesman Michael Cohen confirmed.
Trump announced on his Twitter account that he had purchased the other half of The Miss Universe Organization from NBC.
"Just purchased NBC's half of The Miss Universe Organization and settled all lawsuits against them. Now own 100% -- stay tuned!," Trump tweeted.
Cohen confirmed the purchase, as well as the news of settled lawsuits against NBC, CBS New York reports. The purchase of the organization means that Trump is now the sole owner of the Miss Universe, Miss USA pageants and the severed business relations tie of Trump with the NBC network. It is unknown how much Trump has paid to acquire the organization.
NBC and Trump discontinued their business partnership when the latter made "derogatory" remarks about Mexican immigrants during his announcement for presidency in June. According to Variety, the remarks resulted in a feud, in which the television network refused to air the Miss USA or Miss Universe pageants in its channel. In response, Trump filed a $500 million lawsuit against Univision Communications for their refusal to air the contest. It was eventually shown on Reelz.
According to the Guardian, Trump has not filed a lawsuit against NBC or NBCUniversal and probably never will. According to the Washington Post, Trump called Mexican immigrants "rapists" and lost many business partnerships after such comments. However, his rates in the GOP presidential polls soared right after.
The presidential hopeful says that if he gets elected, it will only take him and his administration 2 years to deport all illegal immigrants out of the United States.
"I think it's a process that can take 18 months to two years if properly handled," Trump said, according to the report by CBS News.
Trump added that his plans to build a Southern border wall will not be implemented until all illegal immigrants have been deported.
"I will get them out so fast that your head would spin, long before I even can start the wall, said Trump."They will be out of here. You know we have tremendous problems of crime."
However, the American Action Forum estimates that it would take 20 years to remove undocumented immigrants and it would take up to $600 billion to do so.
