It has been six months since Caitlyn Jenner's debut as a transgender woman on Diane Sawyer's 20/20, and she's still reaping praises for her bravery in making the choice to be true to herself and become a woman, despite being a public figure who is always under scrutiny.

In the first episode of I am Cait, Jenner met with her son-in-law, Kanye West, who praised her bravery. Independent reports that West said, "I think it’s one of the strongest things that have happened in our...existence as human beings that are so controlled by perception. 'Cause you couldn’t have been up against more."

West again shared his thoughts on how supportive he is of Jenner in an interview with SHOW Studio. E! Online reports that according to the rapper, "You know the first thing I did think about is I thought about black radio hosts maybe, possibly, making jokes about it because the black culture is generally so homophobic."

The 38-year-old artist also thought the media would focus on the fact that "this rapper has this transgender person in his family."

But West said, "But then it was like, 'F--- what people say. F--- what people think. I just feel so proud to be in a family that has so many people breaking ground for the generations to come...I feel proud… that I can be next to a wave of 'this is who I am.' And that is all I'm about."

West also explained that most people are stuck inside the opinion of others and are paralyzed from moving to discover their true identity. He said, "To let your life be controlled by public opinion would be like asking to sit in traffic for the rest of your life. Meaning, you want to turn this way, but there's a car right here that says this...That's public opinion...And Bruce just got off [at] the exit sign and drove as fast as he wanted."

Upon realizing he called Jenner by his male name, West apologized and admitted, "I'm still getting acquainted with what's politically correct and not politically correct, because it's new, it's modern."

Like Jenner, West is a father now, and is expecting another baby with his wife, Kim Kardashian. The Guardian reports that West spoke up about being a father and a celebrity at the same time, saying, "Do I worry about being in the public eye and raising kids? Yeah. Any situation you’re in you’re gonna worry about raising kids. But it’s champagne problems, too. There are people who can’t feed their kids. I’m not gonna sit here and complain about these issues."

It's this passion for current issues that has led West to announce his hopes of becoming president of the United States in 2020. CNN reports that during the 2015 MTV Video Music Awards, West announced, "t's not about me. It's about ideas. New ideas. People with ideas. People who believe in truth. And yes, as you probably could've guessed by this moment, I have decided in 2020 to run for president."
