As Captain America and Thor's stories come to a close with their upcoming final movies, it's quite disconcerting to see Hulk being left with no films of his own to link to the Avengers series. Fans are in for a treat, however, as JoBlo has learned that the Hulk will be coming back in "Thor: Ragnarok" to team up with the God of Thunder.
In Avengers: Age of Ultron, Bruce Banner is last seen aboard a Quinjet which supposedly landed in the ocean, leaving endless possibilities on the whereabouts of the green giant. During the New York Comic Con, however, a source told JoBlo that Mark Ruffalo is confirmed to appear alongside Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston who reprises his role as Loki, and Jaimie Alexander in. Sources also claim that the film will also involve a "distant planet" that's "not Asgard and not Earth."
Given how massive the Avengers franchise is, actors are usually signed on for multiple films, and Screenrant confirms that Ruffalo is indeed signed for six more movies even before the Age of Ultron was released, proving that he may still have parts in Phase 3 of the MCU films aside from the third Avengers movie.
Cinema Blend also reports that Thor: Ragnarok may be introducing another female heroine in the form of Valkyrie, an Asgardian warrior ad leader o the the Valkyrior, a group that takes worthy fallen soldiers up to Valhalla. Sources add that Ragnarok will also follow Thor and Hulk on a "cosmic road trip together".
Meanwhile, Deadline reports that Taika Waititi, who previously directed the independent film Eagle Vs Shark and 2014's vampire mockumentary, What We Do In The Shadows, is in talks to direct Ragnarok. The first installment was directed by Kenneth Branagh in 2011, garnering $449.3 million, while Dark World, released in 2013, was directed by Alan Taylor and earned $644.8 million worldwide.
Marvel seems to be keeping tight-lipped on the whole Thor: Ragnarok production, as Tom Hiddleston, who is busy on his heels promoting his latest films I Saw the Light and Crimson Peak, recently told Screenrant that he has no idea about what Loki has been up to since viewers last saw him in Dark World.
"That’s all I know that he’s been doing," Hiddleston said, referring to Loki pretending to be the king of Asgard. "I’m interested to see what’s happened in the time between. I like to believe that actually he runs Asgard pretty well. The trains run on time and he keeps the streets clean. [Laughs] I honestly don’t know."
The 34 year old actor adds that he knows not about whether Loki would make an appearance beyond Thor: Ragnarok. He said, "I genuinely do not know...I haven’t spoken to anyone at Marvel for about two years. That universe is expanding at such a rate."
Thor: Ragnarok's release date has been pushed back to Nov. 3, 2017.
