A French telecommunications company has leaked the specs of the HTC One A9 and the smart phone will allegedly look like an iPhone running on Android.
Orange Mobile mistakenly uploaded the HTC One A9 on to their website a few days ago which subsequently lead to the leak of the phone's specs. According to Digital Spy, the new phone is similar in looks to Apples iPhone 6S with its metal backing and round corners.
Additionally, as leaked by the French company, the A9 will reportedly have a 5-inch, 1080p display and will run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The device will also have 2 cameras with the front one having 4-megapixels and the rear with a 13-megapixel camera. The report added that the A9 is a sibling of HTC One M9.
The handset is the first smartphone by HTC that is running on Android Marshmallow. For its price, it will be sold at €599 or about $690 and comes in six colors including Acid Gold, Opal Silver, Deep Garnet, Carbon Gray, Rose Gold and Cast Iron, according to iDigital Times.
According to Tech Times, the A9's price tag is baffling as the specs of the phone is similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S4 in 2014 and as such, should be cheaper than the new S6 and S6 edge. The outlet added that the A9 will have a 2GB Ram and have an octa-core Snapdragon 617 SoC processor which is reportedly considered "modest" specs for a phone.
The Taiwanese smartphone maker's CEO Cher Wang was rumoredly all praise for one the company's smartphones and even going so far as dubbing it as a better-priced alternative to iPhones. According to the report by the International Business Times, the rumored HTC phone will be the One A9. Wang told employees that the unnamed HTC smartphone will "strike a balance between beauty, performance and simplicity." Additionally, the CEO also encouraged employees to let friends and contacts join the press event happening today.
Hopefully the HTC event today, Oct. 20, will give us the much needed details and specs of the A9 phone. For those who wish to stream virtually, you can go to HTC's website. The event will start at 12 nn EST.
"The rumored One A9 looks at this stage like it may be another 'iClone' model, with little to differentiate it from rivals other than price," Neil Mawsto from one of United Kingdom's market research firm, Strategy Analytics, told Forbes.
The news comes at the time where HTC needs to put their game up more after losing its position in the country's blue-chip stock market index and conducting massive layoffs in their factories.
