Sony Xperia Z5 Premium specs, price, release date & rumors: Android 6.0 Marshmallow update to boost battery life with "Stamina Mode"

When it comes to specs, the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium is at the top of its class with unstinting details in its design. The new flagship phone live up to its name with Sony really putting premium on the quality of the phone in terms of its specifications.

As per Sony Mobile, the latest Xperia smartphone boasts of an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, 64-bit processor, and coupled it with 3 GB of RAM. It has an internal storage of 32 GB with a microSD expandable storage of up to 200 GB. The display is no pushover, as well, with a 5.5-inch screen size with an amazing PPI (pixels per inch) of 806 and a 2160x3840 pixel resolution.

The 806 ppi is ten times the pixel density of most full-HD TVs and twice that of most smartphones today. Sony still went for the reliable IPS LCD screen technology and proudly opted to come up with the world's first 4K smartphone to best all competition.

The camera is also one of the best in the market today with a 23-megapixel rear camera with LED flash, and 5-megapixel front, according to NDTV's Gadget360. Other camera details include 1/2.3" Exmor RSTM sensor, Hybrid AF 0.03 sec*, 5x Clear Image Zoom and ISO 12800 Photo / 3200 Video.

The Z5 Premium is 154.4 mm in length, 76 mm in width, 7.8 mm thick and weighs 180 grams. It has a battery capacity of 3,430 mAh, which comes in a non-removable unit.

It is also worth noting that the Xperia line has a battery management tool, the Stamina Mode, which enables the standby time to increase by as much as 400 percent, according to PhoneArena. And on top of this, the Stamina Mode will even get a boost once the gadget is upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. The Xperia Z5 with this battery capability should be able to run for a couple of days without charging according to Sony.

One of the best features of Z5 premium that sets it apart from other smartphones is the fact that it is waterproof. A feature that really comes into play for those who bring their phones with them during travel and adventure, and on places where the weather condition could really get unpredictable.

Sony has yet to release an official announcement on the price of the Sony Xperia Z5 Premium when it comes out of stores in the US. But, its UK price is set at £629 (around $970). The smartphone will be released this month.
