The official 'Warcraft' trailer is not due for release until this Friday's Blizzcon but copies of a short 15-second teaser have been making the rounds online since Tuesday. Legendary Pictures has also released the official poster for the movie.

According to a report by Mashable, Duncan Jones will be directing this long-awaited movie. He is the same director for the films "Source Code" with Jake Gyllenhaal and "Moon" starring Sam Rockwell.

"We've been holding back on showing things for such a long time," Jones said on USA Today.

"This one, I can finally show them something. It's been a very long tease."

Mashable says the movie was first announced back in 2006, with Sam Raimi rumored to be the director at some point. Years later, in 2013, the responsibility of making the movie adaptation of 'World of Warcraft' was given to Jones.

In an interview with USA Today, Jones explains that he wanted it to be a unique war movie where it's not just the protagonists going against the antagonists. He wants to go deeper, by telling the story of two groups going into a war that they cannot avoid.

"There are still good guys and bad guys, but they are divided," Jones added.

"No culture is uniquely good or bad, but there is certainly good and bad on any particular side. The complexities of who's good and who's evil are part of the fun of watching a movie like this."

Talking to Entertainment Weekly, Jones tells reporters that he is approaching the material both as a filmmaker and a long-time Warcraft gamer.

As a gamer, he wants to stay true to the story, working closely with Blizzard to make sure they got the details right. As a filmmaker, he wants to introduce the characters and make the story understandable even for people who know nothing about the game.

Slash Film has revealed a partial list of actors taking part in the movie. Paula Patton will be playing the half-human, half-elf Garona, Ben Foster as the wizard Medivh, Dominic Cooper playing the role of King Llane Wrynn, Ben Schnetzer as Khadgar, Clancy Brown as the orc Blackhand, Ruth Negga as the Lady Taria, Daniel Wu as the character Gul-dan and Toby Kebbel as Durotan.

From IGN, we find that Travis Femmel will play Anduin Lothar while Robert Kazinsky will take on the role of Orgrim Doomhammer.

'Warcraft' will hit US cinemas on June 10, 2016.
