According to rumors, Sony's Xperia Z6 may be released during the Mobile World Congress (MCW) next year.
According to the International Business Times, instead of launching the Xperia Z6 during the second half of 2016 as rumored, Sony may be unveiling it during the Mobile World Congress which will be on Feb. 22 to Feb. 25 next year.
As for the specs, the outlet states that the Z6 might come with Qualcomm's Snapdragon 820 chipset and run on Android 6.0 Marshmallow right off the box. Due to this, the device might come with a USB Type C port for a microSD to extend storage. Additionally, the screen resolution might come in 1080p or Ultra HD which Xperia Z5 Premium models come with.
As for features, there might be new additions to the flagship since not much is known yet about the device and if the rumors are true that the Z6 will be released late in 2016, a lot of technology can be released in a year. IB Times states that it might still come with the impressive features seen in the Xperia Z5 series including water and dust resistance, anti-fingerprint coating glass panel and fingerprint scanner. Some rumors say that the handset may eventually have a wireless charging feature and a bigger battery size.
As for the design, the Z6 will probably come with Sony's OmniBalance design. According to Android Pit, it may draw some criticisms from experts and fans who think that every generation should have different designs but given that competitors such as Apple and Samsung employ the same approach, not much could be said that Sony would be altering their designs anytime soon.
However, according to PC Advisor, Sony will be releasing the smartphone lineup during the IFA in Sept. 2016. The site adds that it "seems unlikely" that Sony will be continuing their trend of releasing phones every six months. A designer allegedly hinted that the Z6 will be coming in the second half of 2016 instead of earlier during an interview.
For the pricing, the outlet takes a guess and states that the flagship phone might start at the price of £550 (around $800). For other versions that may be made, an Xperia Z6 Compact may be around £430 (around $600) and an Xperia Z6 Premium may fetch a £630 (around $950) price tag.
In an interview with Tech Radar, Sony's Art Director Rikke Gertsen Constein reveals that the company is already working for flagship phones for the second half of 2016 and for 2017 and 2018.
