Holly Holm's recent win in the UFC women's bantamweight championship has, suddenly, made the 34-year-old mixed martial artist an instant household name in combat sport. And now, surely, every female fighter at her division would want a crack at her for the title. But first in line would, definitely, have to be Ronda Rousey.
Holm, the former professional boxer and kickboxer did the unthinkable back in the UFC 193 title fight when she kayoed the erstwhile unbeaten Rousey, who is also tipped by many to win the fight convincingly, before some 56,214 people at Melbourne, Australia's Etihad Stadium.
In an interview with Seth Meyers on the Late Night, Holm shared her thoughts regarding the incredible victory and a possible rematch with Rousey.
The host asked her if there is any chance for a rematch and she said that she was all for it and won't deprive her opponent of the chance of redeeming herself after the loss, SB Nation reported.
"Oh, I welcome it. I've been on the other end of losing a bout before, getting knocked out and having to come back—I did avenge my loss. And I know that she'll be wanting to do the same," she said.
"So, I'll have to train twice as hard. You know, she'll be coming back. She's a competitive person, and we all know that. She'll be coming back hard."
After all that has been said and done before and during the fight, the class-act champion, known for his moniker "The Preacher's Daughter," was still able to heap praise to the greatest rival in her career so far.
She said that the fight was that big as well as her victory all because of Rousey. Holm admitted that her opponent in UFC 193 is that good and dominant of a fighter. She said that she was also grateful to Rousey because of the opportunity, which was only possible because of the very dominant former champion.
Meanwhile, according to an article from TMZ, Holm has one fighter in mind that she believes is the G.O.A.T. or greatest of all time when it comes to boxing. FightHype.com asked the UFC champ as she was seen leaving the Canelo and Cotto fight in Las Vegas regarding the reports that she was spotted hanging out with Floyd Mayweather at the Clippers and Warriors NBA game.
"It was awesome," she said before calling Mayweather the G.O.A.T. because of his undefeated record, which now stands at 49-0.
