"Rugrats" had been a big part of many people's childhood. It is the cartoon series that brought smiles and laughter to both kids and adults. This is evident considering it aired for a total of nine seasons before it fully came to an end.
When it ended, many fans were left curious as to how the lumpy babies would look like in the future once they are already grown up. Well, according to NerdsBastards, many fans were already curious as to how they would look like ever since the series started. Nonetheless, we can't deny that this curiosity rose after the series ended. Fans waited until a new season of "Rugrats," where the babies might have become fully an adult already will be shown.
Yes, they got "Rugrats: All Grown Up," where the babies are already in their junior high school years. It was fun to see them as "not-so-baby" anymore. However, the chance of seeing them as fully grown-ups never happened.
Due to the fans' increasing curiosity, a few of them started to imagine how the babies would look like ten to 20 years from now. Not too long, fans started releasing their own version of "Rugrats" adult version.
There were fans who drew them as beautiful and handsome teenagers - as if the lumpy babies grew up to be fashionable teens. There were also who imagined them as normal-looking teenagers who reflect the teenagers in real life. Of course, there were also others who drew them as weird and "lumpy-but-not-as-lumpy-as-before" teenagers.
There were a lot of interpretations when it comes to the adult version of the "Rugrats" babies. However, these remained as interpretations as none of them came from the series producers or animators themselves.
According to TV Series Finale site, Eric Molinsky, a former "Rugrats" storyboard artist, released his own version of the adult version of the loved and adored lumpy babies.
Hypebeast reported that the former "Rugrats" illustrator said that the fans, who imagined and drew the characters as adults, got it all wrong.
The artist seems like he can't believe how fans interpret the babies to grow up as fashionable and cute, or hipster and cool when they are fans of the cartoon series. He expected the fans to stick with the original image of these babies - the lumpy ones!
This is why he released his own version of adult "Rugrats" babies. It can be seen in his own site Studio 360.
While it is not the official adult version of the babies, it can be considered to be the closest one among all interpretations. Why? It is due to the fact that Molinsky worked as one of the storyboard artist of "Rugrats."
