The Features

3.)    The customizing of interface, settings and status bar display is now possible!

5.)    It is now possible for Android to embrace external storage cards. These can now be used like onboard memory.

The Release Date

According to Android Pit, Android Marshmallow was first announced in May 28, 2015. However, during that time, the operating system was still referred to as Android M developer preview. After a few tweaks and improvements of the preview, it has been changed to its official name—Android Marshmallow—in Aug. 17, 2015.

It is not a surprise that the first handsets to get the update were Nexus smartphones considering that they are related to Google. Google chose smartphones Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P as the Android 6.0 launch devices.
