Both the Sony Xperia Z5 and the Google Nexus 6P are two of the premium smartphones available in the market today. The Nexus mobile devices have always been known for their value for money with an impressive performance that comes in a cheaper price compared to the rival phones, while with the Sony Xperia lineup, consumers will always come away more than satisfied in terms of specs and some novel features to lead the way for the competition.
So, let us try to check out how the two stack up against each other. In terms of display, the Nexus 6P has a considerably bigger screen size at 5.7 inches compared to the Xperia Z5's 5.2-inch screen. Now, the advantage depends on the user's preference and how one perceive those phones with 5.5-inch display and higher; is it too much? Or just the right size?
The Nexus makes use of an AMOLED display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440 or 518 pixels per inch (PPI) and Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. The Z5, meanwhile, uses a 1,920 x 1,080 (424 PPI) Triluminos LCD display.
In the hardware and performance department, both phones have almost an identical built and architecture with the pair running the same Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 MSM8994 and Adreno 430 GPU. Both the Z5 and 6P were also equipped with 3 GB of RAM, according to Phone Arena. The Z5 also has microSD with storage expansion capability of up to 200 GB, while the 6P has no expandable memory.
Sony Xperia phones are known for their cameras and this comes as no surprise because the company creates cameras to sell and components to provide other companies like Nikon, Fujifilm and even Apple, according to Engadget.
And, Sony's new flagship device boasts of a 23-megapixel camera with a 1/2.3-inch Exmor RS sensor. And superfast autofocus that can snap photos in about 0.03 seconds. As for the 6P, the rear camera has 12.3 MP with an aperture of f/2.0 and dual flash. One advantage it has over the Z5 is in its front camera with 8 MP as compared to the usual 5 MP from the Xperia and other flagship phones.
Both batteries for the two phones are not user replaceable and while the Nexus 6P has bigger battery capacity at 3450 mAh for its larger display, the Xperia Z5 somewhat disappoints at just 2900 mAh.
As for the price, the Google phone comes in three variants and a different price tag for each one. It can cost you around $579 for its 32 GB model. The Sony Xperia, on the other hand, is also available and priced at around $569.
