PlayStation 5 release, price, specs & rumors: Xbox Two's possible rival to be unveiled in 2018?

It has already been a little over two years since gamers first had their hands on what are now two of the most popular consoles in the market. The Sony PlayStation 4 and Microsoft's Xbox One were released one week apart back in November 2013 and it seems like their upcoming next versions are about to have a nip and tuck affair once again with reports that the two will be released on the same year.
Earlier this year, Sony has posted a job listing for a new senior game programmer that gives the impression the company is already mapping the development of PS5, AttackoftheFanBoy reported in May.
The listing reads, "We have an exciting opportunity at Sony Computer Entertainment of America (PlayStation). We seek a senior game programmer to assist us in developing a game used for R&D purposes related to our next generation gaming system. For someone passionate about gaming, this is a very rare opportunity. After reviewing the below job profile, if this is you, please apply!"
The predecessors of PS4 and Xbox One lasted for about seven years before they gave way for the current consoles. And, considering a shelf-life of five to seven years for such devices, we could be looking at a PS5 release date on 2018, or 2020 at the latest.
A lot of probable features that may come with the next-generation Sony console are 4k and virtual-reality gaming due to the fact that by the time the PS5 is released, the two technology could be mainstream already, International Business Times noted.
But, one thing that is almost certain for now is that the PS5 will be a more powerful device than PS4. AMD, the processor and graphics chipset provider for PS4, has already said that they intend to give the upcoming consoles a performance boost and it seems like Sony is willing to back this up. Sony President Shuhei Yoshida, said in an interview that if game developers need more machine power then the company will deliver.
When it comes to the specs for the PS5, TechRadar throws in an interesting question worthy of discussion. Considering the latest advancement in technology and the ever dynamic, not to mention unpredictable transition or upgrade from one medium to another, it is possible that rumors could hold water that the PS5 console may not come in its usual hardware package.
We could be looking at a palm-sized streaming device as we see a surge in downloadable titles and contents these days, or future gamers could be making use of DualShock 4 or even a more advanced controller device that connects with a Sony TV.
The possibilities are endless and considering that the Sony team has more than enough time to work their magic on the upcoming gaming console, it has never been more exciting for the gaming community. As for the price, it is hard to tell at the moment, but judging the current value for PS4 and Xbox one, the succeeding versions could come around at a price tag of more or less around $350.
