Leaked news about the Samsung Galaxy S7 reveals that the flagship phone might come with its own liquid cooling system to make sure it runs at its most optimum without overheating.
According to Slash Gear, Microsoft's Lumia 950 XL has been using the liquid cooling system. Samsung is looking for a supplier that will enable them to have the S7 cool enough not to overheat from its processor. However, it has to be thin at 0.6 mm and compact and work like the heat pipes usually seen on desktop computers, tablets and laptops.
Fortunately, Fujitsu has announced a cooling device invention earlier this year and it is less than 1 mm thick. As luck would have it, it can be used for smartphones too.
The heating stems from smartphone companies prioritizing better performance which comes in using effective processors that heat up fast.
According to GSM Arena, the S7 might be powered with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor and an Exynos 8890 which would explain why it needs a sophisticated cooling system. As the newest flagship phone, it is expected to pack a punch so having a liquid cooling system may not be out of bounds with reality.
Computer World reports that the microSD slot might make a comeback as many people were left disappointed with their non-expandable phone storage.
"Many people were angry about Samsung removing the SD card in the Galaxy S6, but I believe we will see that come back to the S line with the S7," Patrick Moorhead of Moor Insights & Strategy told the website. "It was particularly dumb to remove the slot in the S6 given the emergence of 4K video on smartphones."
He added that the Snapdragon 820 would only be for US and China phones and other versions will be powered by Exynos 8890. The 820 would make virtual reality (VR) apps run smoother as well.
"This is not just a classic improvement in the next-generation smartphone feeds and speeds, but a dramatic improvement and Qualcomm talked about doubling the performance per watt on this card," said Moorhead.
The Galaxy S7 may have a lot of changes internally, but it seems its design will remain similar to the S6. According to the Phone Arena, the most notable difference in the design leaks is the rectangular home button. As for the size, it is very similar to the S6 at 143.37 x 70.8 x 6.94 mm. It is also a little bit thicker but only a little bit than the S6.
It is rumored that the Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 Plus might be unveiled on February 2016.
