According to The Verge, Hyundai teased their brand new car model on Dec. 7. The car will carry the name "Ioniq" and will directly compete against "Toyota Prius."

In fact, in the teaser that Hyundai released, it can be seen that their Ioniq looks similar to Toyota Prius. Well, this car has not been fully revealed yet. So, there is still a chance that it will look a little different to its rival, but as of now, one can easily say that it looks very similar to Prius.

The teaser photo shows a black compact vehicle that comes with a raised rear deck, lowered front hood and triangular silhouette.

Cnet reported that Hyundai will first launch their brand new car model in Korea next month. The USA does not have to wait too long to see Ioniq in person as the car will be included at the auto shows in both New York and Geneva in March.

Unlike Prius that comes in two styles, Hyundai made their Ioniq more advance by making it available in three different flavors. It will be offered in traditional gasoline-electric hybrid powertrain, plug-in hybrid powertrain and all-electric powertrain. It is indeed the "first-of-its-kind" green car of Hyundai considering that it is the first ever car model that comes in all three different options in history.

Ioniq will be the latest gambit of Hyundai to gain a portion of the alternative-energy cars' market, which has been long dominated by Toyota, which offers Prius hybrid, and Nissan, which introduced the Leaf electric car, according to Auto News.

As of the moment, there are not much information regarding the upcoming Hyundai car. It is expected to see more details upon its launching in Korea. However, the carmaker is generous enough to provide some information that might excite the interested buyers.

The carmaker confirmed that they will be giving Ioniq an exclusive all-new platform that will be specially designed to fit the car's three different powertrain options.

The all-electric powertrain will be sporting a high-capacity lithium on its battery. While the battery type for the all-electric type has been revealed, Hyundai did not specify what battery types it will be using for the other two powertrain options.

The car's logo will be depicting the letter "Q" to convey a "visual breakthrough" symbolizing the fresh new approach of the car.

There is still no announcement with regard to the price of each Hyundai Ioniq powertrain options.
