Is Apple Inc.'s Senior Vice President of Worldwide Phil Schiller bitter following Google's acquisition of Nest Labs?
As of Jan. 19, Schiller follows 117 Twitter accounts. The aforementioned Twitter figure is down by two belonging to Tony Fadell and his company Nest Labs.
As Latino Post reported, Google bought Fadell's Nest Labs, which was also co-founded by Matt Rogers. Google paid $3.2 billion in cash for the acquisition, which will undergo regulatory approval processes within the United States.
"We're thrilled to join Google," said Nest CEO Tony Fadell. "With their support, Nest will be even better placed to build simple, thoughtful devices that make life easier at home, and that have a positive impact on the world."
Nest Labs has been credited to reinventing home devices such as smoke alarms and thermostats following its launch in 2011.
What's the connection between Nest Labs and Apple?
Apple employed Fadell and Rogers. The Nest Labs founders worked alongside for the iPod's development. Later, Nest Labs' first product, the Nest Learning Thermostat, was even sold at Apple Stores in 2012.
It is unsure how Nest Labs' products will be affected in future Apple projects. Google stated Nest Labs will continue to run as its own separate brand despite the acquisition with Fadell continuing to serve as leader.
Of course, many may be looking into Schiller's "unfollow" of Fadell too much than necessary.
What do you think? Big deal or bitter grapes by the Apple executive?
