"Persona 5" is the fifth installment of the game series, which is a spinoff of the Shin Megami Tensei series which shares the same universe. The game's release has been delayed to Summer 2016 as the trailer was released during the Tokyo Game Show 2015. It was originally supposed to be released on Winter 2014 then to Winter 2015 and then bumped up for next year.

According to N4BB, the delay is caused by Atlus trying to polish the game to live up to fan expectations. The gaming company is busy preparing the downloadable content (DLC) for the game, a feat never been done in the franchise before. However, there is no word what the DLC will contain but the outlet hopes that it will allow gamers to customize looks.

"The strengths of the persona series are compelling characters, a moving, relatable story, and a borderline obsession with minutiae—elements which can't be rushed or taken lightly," the official announcement stated. "So while Atlus realizes the frustration and disappointment that this must cause for the jrpg-loving public, please know that we are delaying the game in order to make sure the next iteration of the persona series lives up to the expectations of fans."

According to Katsura Hashino, the P5 game director, there will be a "supernatural main plot" and combined with a "romance subplot." This means that aside from warring with good and evil, the characters will be saddled with the fickleness of teenage romance.

According to the official "Persona 5" website, the protagonist will be a young sophomore in Shujin High School with an alter ego "phantom thief." Who or what his alter ego is for remains to be seen but the website states that it is "coming-of-age story." The protagonist's initial persona is called Arsene which is currently linked to a fictitious French thief named Arsene Lupin.

According to Venture Capital Post, the protagonist may be able to "steal" masks from his enemies so that he can make them his own Persona. The gentleman thief Arsene Lupin, after all, is a "master of disguise" which makes it possible for him to steal hearts. The outlet adds that the game will be set in modern Tokyo where the player can go around the city via a map app where he can also use to enter dungeons.

"Persona 5" will be released on PS3 and PS4 in summer 2016 according to Hashino, but no specific date has been set yet.
