"Game of Thrones" finally revealed a teaser for the highly anticipated season 6 coming in April next year, but did not reveal much on the pressing issue that is Jon Snow's existence. Speaking of Jon Snow, The Telegraph is speculating that fans may finally get a glimpse of his past, specifically, his parents.

For the longest time, fans have speculated on Jon Snow's parentals, as many have assumed that Ned Stark isn't his real father. Fans have been quick to speculate that Snow is, in fact, the offspring of Rhaegar Targaryen and Lyanna Stark. Some points to consider: Ned Stark refuses to admit who Snow's mother is, and Sansa herself admitted that her aunt was raped by the Targaryen prince, Rhaeger. This makes Jon Snow not only Daenerys' nephew but also a possible heir to the iron throne.

HBO has had a stellar year, earning 43 Emmy wins, which include 12 Emmys for "Game of Thrones" alone. The Guardian reports that the show garnered 24 nominations, the most any single series has won in a year. Among the Emmys the show received in September were Best Drama, Best Directing, and Best Writing. Peter Dinklage, who plays Tyrion Lannister on the show, won his second Best Supporting Actor in a Drama award.

CNET reports that new footage of "Game of Thrones" season 6 has been released via HBO's year-end recap video posted to their social media outlets on Sunday.

The new "Game of Thrones" footage begins at 2:15 in the video below, where fans can get a glimpse of Daenerys Targaryen looking pensively over a riverbank. Ramsay Bolton then makes an appearance valiantly riding in front of the banners of House Bolton, probably on his way to war. Finally, a clip shows King Tommen Baratheon and his mother, Cersei in a warm embrace.

While fans are waiting for the upcoming season of "Game of Thrones", they can check out Gwendoline Christie, who plays Brienne of Tarth on the HBO show, in the another highly anticipated franchise, "Star Wars: The Force Awakens". Christie will appear in the film as Captain Phasma, the stormtrooper leader of the First Order, GQ reports.

GQ also reveals that the Captain Phasma was originally written as a male role, but after last minute changes in the writers' desk (original writer Michael Arndt was replaced by Lawrence Kasdan), they decided to make Captain Phasma a woman because of the lack of female characters.

Christie, who was unaware of the male origins of Captain Phasma, was quick to be delighted in that fact. She said, "I think that’s great of them, don’t you? That there was a discussion about that, and an evolution?"

"Game of Thrones" returns in April 2016, while "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" opens in theaters on Dec. 18.
