We eat because our body needs it but it is also important to make a conscious decision on food intake so we can take care of the body better. While it is easy to say which foods not to eat, here is a guideline of foods that you should eat more instead:
1.) Fermented foods
Dr. Frank Lipman, Gwyneth Paltrow's doctor, recommends eating fermented foods because they contain probiotics which can improve gut health, NY Mag reports. People who are lactose intolerant and can't process fermented milk products ought to have these foods for the bacterial imbalance in their bowels. Fermented foods include: Korean kimchi, pickled radish, sauerkraut, pickled beets, pickled garlic, natto and many more.
2.) Collagen-rich foods
Great-looking skin is the foundation of beauty and picture of health and that is why collagen-rich foods are highly recommended. According to The Fit Indian, collagen can make our skin more firm and supple because it helps renew the skin cells. Dr. Lipman recommends bone broth for good skin. Other foods that can be eaten for glowin skin are red fruits and vegetables, beans, walnuts, flaxseeds, black or green olives and many more.
3.) Iron-rich foods
Foods high in iron such as dark leafy green vegetables, lentils, and red meat can help make the skin more beautiful. According to Food Scout, it can increase blood circulation in the body and gives it more energy throughout the day.
4.) Biotin-rich foods
Dr. Lipman recommends biotin-rich foods as well because it is good for the hair; it is our crowning glory after all so it makes to take care of it as well. Some foods that are rich in biotin are eggs, milk, meat and legumes, according to IVL.
5.) Water
Dr. Lipman emphasizes the drinking of water because it is important to keep our skin hydrated. It helps flush out the toxins of it as well. He suggests drinking water that is half the body weight in ounces. For a person who is 130 pounds, they should consume 65 ounces of water daily.
