Earlier news reports tipped the upcoming "Elder Scrolls 6" video game to carry the title "Redguard" or "Argonia." But, all these turned out to be mere speculations and the two aforementioned titles won't make it to the upcoming installment from the series, according to n4bb.com. Nothing is cast in stone for the moment, but there are other reports suggesting the possibility of the use of the name "Skyrim 2."

Meanwhile, one of the rumors that also swirled around is that this new open-world action-fantasy role playing game (RPG) will be inspired by either "Morrowind" or "Oblivion", two of the earlier titles from the series. But, Crossmap wrote that this could be very unlikely judging the words of Pete Hines, vice president of PR and marketing for Bethesda Softworks, in an earlier interview this year.

"It's rare to have franchises like the ones we have and to have people joking about 'when is Skyrim 2 coming out?' The reason they say that is because generally speaking that's what you'd be getting with another publisher in charge," Hine told The Telegraph. "They'd be spitting out a 'Skyrim 2' the year after or two years later. That's just not how we view it. We're not the sort of publisher that focuses on 'what's our 25 titles for 2015.'"

"We do smaller stuff, we don't publish to scale, we try to publish to quality. Make sure everything we do is noteworthy. Our approach to that hasn't differed," he added.

The previous three titles that came ahead of "Elder Scrolls 6" have brought a lot of success for the game developer Bethesda Game Studios and were all named Game of the Year by various gaming award-giving bodies. That makes for a big shoes to fill for the upcoming game, but could also work for it as more gamers are already in anticipation.

Because of this success, rumors also have it that "Elder Scrolls 6" might take a page from its predecessors and bring in some of the features that fans have come to love about the franchise. NeuroGadget, for instance, cited the possible return of the dragons featured in "Elder Scrolls Skyrim".

Meanwhile, the upcoming game could also feature Elswyer and Valenwood as two new additional locations. There is also the possibility that the gameplay for the "Elder Scrolls 6" could make use of a multi-player mode. As for its release date, there are no official words from the company as of yet, but based on Hines previous statements, "Elder Scrolls 6" will likely hit the shelves in 2016 or by 2017.
