"Star Wars: The Force Awakens" has been a big hit in the big screen. Fans were very happy to finally watch the favorite franchise once again in theaters. While the movie is really a continuation of an ongoing saga, it actually feels like something like a beginning. Well, it can definitely be the start of a new beginning considering the fact that "Star Wars" fans will have something to look forward to every year until 2020. Guess what? There will be a "Star Wars" movie to be released annually for the next five years. Exciting, right?
Things are different compared to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. It is because even when it has already been revealed that there will be a "Star Wars" film every year, details about these films are not revealed yet. Yes, the public already know the surface of these upcoming films, but the titles, characters and other details remained secret, the Games Radar reported.
Fans will be getting not only "Star Wars: Episode VIII" and "Star Wars: Episode IX." They will also be waiting for several Star Wars-related standalone films.
According to Cinema Blend, "Rouge One" will be the first in the line. It will be a "Star Wars" story that will be existing between "Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith" and "Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope." The release date is announced to be on Dec 16, 2016.
After "Rouge One," the most-awaited "Star Wars: Episode VIII" will follow. It is not known as to what part will Luke Skywalker be playing in this developing sequel. It is said to hit the cinemas on May 26, 2017.
Following the Episode VIII of the movie, a film about a young Han Solo will be released. There is still no one cast to play the role of a young Han Solo. However, the Studio is already eyeing a number of possible candidates. The film will be released on May 25, 2018.
Then, "Star Wars: Episode IX" will come after. The only known detail about the film is that it will be the last of the brand new trilogy started by the "Star Wars: The Force Awakens." There is still no specific release date announced, but it will definitely be in the year 2019.
The Den of Geek also reported that there will still be a Boba Fett film. However, Lucasfilm has pushed it back until the year 2020.
