Honda Ridgeline Pickup 2017: New Mid-Sized Version to Debut at 2016 Detroit Auto Show

The legendary Japanese car-maker, Honda, has never been known for pickup trucks. They are always admired by their style and efficiency in making Sedans and Coupe.

The company's Civic, Accords and Acura have been best-sellers since they were introduced to the market. Nevertheless, when the company decided to get out of their comfort zone for the moment and join the pickup trucks battle, they never failed to deliver.

In 2005, Honda launched the lovable Ridgeline. A pickup truck with supreme originalities and uncanny design was the first entry of the company into the packed market of pick trucks in North America.

The truck, which was given an "anti-truck" moniker, was actually doing well in the market as it was well received by the consumers that were hungry for something different. However, it failed to deliver the power that was expected by many people from Honda. It did not have the V8 engine that most of its competitor had, which explains its low sales figures compared to other brands, reported by Digital Trends.

In 2014, after battling it out with other brands for nine years, Honda decided to stop its production and concentrate on the other products that hold their badge. People were actually wondering why they had to stop production because the Ridgeline was actually competing albeit the low number of sales. Many people were uncertain if Honda will ever release a new Ridgeline again.

The company has finally spoken and decided to bring out the all-new 2017 Ridgeline model that will be featured at the 2016 International Auto Show on January 11. It will be the model's debut, which will be followed by a Super Bowl 50 commercial on February 17.

Certainly, Honda is not wasting time in promoting its new monster. This latest development would sure give car fanatics something to think about in 2016, the Daily News reported. The car maker will soon release teaser footages to let its fans and competitors know that they are coming.

The senior Vice President of the Honda Division, Jeff Conrad, explained that the new Honda Ridgeline was developed mainly to "offer something new and fundamentally better suited to the way many buyers use their truck." Conrad, who also holds the position of General Manager, continued by saying that the new Ridgeline will have the whole package that Honda has been known for, "from incredible packaging and fuel-efficiency to top safety technologies and innovative, segment first features," in a statement relayed by the Daily News.
