Ever since the former NBA player was found unconscious at a legal brothel in Nevada last October, a lot of questions have been raised if his health will be able to recover from the incident. However, in the news today, US Weekly confirmed through their source that Khloe Kardashian's ex is recovering pretty well as he has taken his first few steps without any assistance.
Despite Odom's trouble with his hand movements, the 36-year-old is on his way of getting better. This is a very good development on his health that shocked his doctors, who confirmed to TMZ in October that the basketball player had a 50/50 chance of survival.
It was earlier reported that doctors at the hospital where Odom is currently confined were saying many of his organs have failed, including his kidneys. He was also having heart problems resulting in series of strokes that could have been dangerous to his other organs.
The former Los Angeles Laker was brought to the hospital two months ago after found unconscious. Doctors found traces of drugs in his body following the results of toxicology. Sexual performance enhancing drugs and cocaine were said to be the reason of his hospitalization, International Design Times reported.
Odom, who is still legally married to the reality TV star Khloe was said to had problems recognizing his own family. However, reports showed that his mental function is improving slowly and is was able to recognize a staff member, which is already a big improvement considering his brain was not working properly following the incident in October.
Khloe, who has since moved on after her break up with Odom, constantly visits her ex at the hospital and delivers good news to the fans. In her recent TV appearance, the 31-year-old sister of Kourtney and Kim Kardashian said that Odom's recovery is extraordinary as all machines that have been keeping him alive were taken off.
"He is off of all machines that help his organs, but he still has such a long way to go," Khloe revealed to Ellen DeGeneres on her show. "He's learning how to walk again and feed himself again and put sentences together and cognitively there's a lot...there's like...it's a long, long road ahead."
The latest development on Odom's health should be great news for his two kids, who previously said in a report by Hollywood Life that they are grateful for Khloe's help and support to their father's current situation.
Following Odom's health improvement, TMZ added that Odom will soon be transferred to a rehab center to continue his road to complete recovery.
