Art imitates life for actor Ben Affleck, who stars in the highly anticipated "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" this 2016, as he recently opened up to French magazine Studio Ciné Live about playing Bruce Wayne, The Hollywood Reporter reveals. The 43-year-old actor explained that this Batman is a departure from Christopher Nolan's version in the "Dark Knight" trilogy.

"Christopher Nolan used his Batman to tell a finite story. My version is different, but remains faithful to the Batman mythology and all the themes associated with it," Affleck said in comparison to the more recent Batman played by Christian Bale.

"Nolan’s Batman isn’t part of a universe where other superheroes exist as well. Here —because we’re working towards the Justice League—there’s Superman, and it’s a world populated with super beings. This situation generates an altogether new reality," explained.

IGN reports that Affleck further stated that the "Dawn of Justice" Bruce Wayne "lives that life at full tilt. He courts many women, owns many cars, and parties a lot. He does that as a way to fill the void in his soul."

"Past incarnations dealt with a straightforward search for justice. This time, Batman’s reasoning is clouded by frustration, bitterness and anger," the Academy Award-winning actor shared.

Affleck admitted that "Dawn of Justice" allowed him to "play a bit more with the billionaire playboy side of the character."

"Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" is written by Academy Award winning screenwriter Chris Terrio ("Argo", 2012), and David S. Goyer ("The Dark Knight" and "The Dark Knight Rises", "Man of Steel", "Blade" trilogy), and is directed by Zack Snyder ("300", "Watchmen", "Man of Steel"). The film will also star Henry Cavill as Clark Kent/Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennywort, and Diane Lane as Martha Kent.

Meanwhile, on the homefront, E! News is reporting that Affleck and his former wife, actress Jennifer Garner, with whom he announced his separation from, are spending the holidays together. The two will reunite to spend the holidays as a family, together with their children, 10-year-old Violet, six-year-old Seraphina, and three-year-old Samuel.

"They will be together as a family," a source told E! News. "They continue to put the kids first and spend time with each other for the sake of their children."

The source said that the Afflecks will be taking time off from Los Angeles to spend Christmas in Montana.

Fans can catch Affleck as Bruce Wayne in "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" once it hits theaters on March 25, 2016.
