'Rock Band 4' DLC Update: Leaderboard Scores Reset To Address Gameplay Bugs, Score Exploits
- comments
Bad news comes to fans of "Rock Band 4," as Polygon reports that while developer Harmonix has found a way to fix the bugs of the game, it will cost the players something important: their high scores. Harmonix will be making a clean slate by wiping out the game's leaderboard scores to remove any scoring exploits and other gaming issues. Fans have until January before Harmonix rolls out the update.
According to Harmonix's official website, they will tweak each of the songs available in the game, difficulty levels, and instruments to remove any bugs that enable gamers to artificially improve their scores.
Harmonix promises "more exciting clothing assets for your characters, an enhancement to one of our game modes that we think you’ll love, and, most significantly, some big changes to our codebase that dramatically improve the integrity and stability of leaderboard scores."
They are also adjusting their code to allow addressing any song-specific bugs and issues that may arise in the future.
"We know that many of you have worked hard to climb the leaderboards and that wiping your scores sucks," the developers wrote, but they reassured fans that "these changes will ensure that in the future, you won’t be unseated from the top spot by someone using an exploit. And if we do discover an issue down the road, we can address it much more quickly and easily."
Gamespot reports that the January update also features the ability for players to post scores from "Play a Show" mode to online leaderboards.
Meanwhile, Harmonix is also adding more U2 songs to the game's collection of songs, IGN reports. Fans can now get the new U2 songs from the Rock Band Music Store on XBox One and PlayStation 4.
The eight new songs are:
“Sunday Bloody Sunday” - 1983
“Pride (In The Name Of Love)” - 1984
“Where The Streets Have No Name” - 1987
“Desire” - 1988
“One” - 1992
“Vertigo” - 2004
“California (There Is No End To Love)” - 2014
“The Miracle (Of Joey Ramone)” - 2014
"Rock Band 4" is the fourth installment of a series of music video games developed by Harmonix and MTV Games, and was released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 6. In a separate IGN report, "Rock Band 4" made the top 10 list of games for October 2015. The game enables players to "form your own band, rock the world, and live out your ultimate rock and roll fantasy, with your friends, family, or as a solo act."
