Back in September, model and "Lip Sync Battle" host Chrissy Teigen opened up for the first time about her fertility struggles, sparking a conversation among many and helping raise awareness about the women's health issue. According to ET Online, the 29-year-old admitted that being a celebrity added to the pressure of starting a family because she and her husband, singer John Legend, would always be asked if there were any plans on having children.
"Being two years into being married, the questions just come from all over," Teigen admitted at the time. "It’s kind of crazy because I can’t imagine being that nosy to be like, ‘So, when are the kids coming?’ because who knows what somebody’s going through."
The FABLife host also admitted, "John and I were having trouble. We would have had kids five, six years ago if it had happened. But my gosh, it’s been a process."
"Once you open up about those things to other people, you start learning that a lot of other people in your life are seeing these people and they have this shame about it," Teigen, who has been with Legend for 10 years and married for two, shared. "Anytime somebody asks me if I’m gonna have kids, I’m just like, ‘One day, you’re gonna ask that to the wrong girl who is really struggling, and it’s going to be really hurtful to them’, and I hate that. Stop asking me!"
Good news came to the couple back in October, as E! Online reported that the couple were expecting their first baby. The couple took to Instagram to share the news, writing, "As many of you know, we've been trying to have a baby for a while now. It hasn't been easy, but we kept trying because we can't wait to bring our first child into the world and grow our family. We're so excited that it's finally happening."
Teigen and Legend again took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the news that they are expecting a daughter, People reports. Teigen shared the cover of Vogue Thailand's latest issue, featuring herself, explaining that it was during the shoot that she and her husband found out that they were expecting a baby girl.
"So excited to have shot a Vogue cover (a dream, of course) annnnd a couple minutes after this shot, John and I learned we were having our little baby girl!" she captioned the photo.
Teigen sang praises for the team at Vogue Thailand, and wrote, "So proud and honored to have shot the cover of Vogue Thailand! Special to me for so many reasons… one being I am SO PROUD to be Thai."
Teigen is the daughter of a Norwegian father and Thai mother, and grew up in Hawaii, Idaho, and Washington, before settling in California. She is due to give birth this spring.
