"Rise of the Tomb Raider" fans would be glad to know that the game is coming to PC this January, Gamespot reports. The Crystal Dynamics-developed game features English actress Camilla Luddington as Lara Croft, and was released in November for Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and is coming to PlayStation 4 during the 2016 holiday season.
Back in August, Xbox business executive Phil Spencer was met with criticism following the announcement that they were releasing "Rise of the Tomb Raider" exclusively on Xbox platforms only. He spoke to Eurogamer about the exclusive deal, saying it was an "interesting opportunity" for Xbox.
"I want to have a stable of hits on our platform that we own. Absolutely. That's fundamental to us having a successful platform. When a unique opportunity comes up, I've got to go look at that. And this was a unique opportunity," Spencer explained.
"I knew there would be some push back when we came out. Certain people won't believe this: it doesn't come from an evil space. It comes from a space where there's an opportunity that maps really well with what we need in terms of the genre, and a partner that's looking for a partnership," he added. "Other people can do the deal, but it was a deal that fit well with us. And I think it could help the franchise in the long run and help Crystal and Square and us."
As of now, neither Crystal Dynamics nor Square Enix has disclosed any information on the official release date of "Rise of the Tomb Raider" PC version, but the official website reads "Available: January 2016." The official website also offers a summary that reads:
Featuring epic, high-octane action moments set in the most beautiful hostile environments on earth, Rise of the Tomb Raider delivers a cinematic survival action adventure where you will join Lara Croft on her first tomb raiding expedition as she seeks to discover the secret of immortality.
Meanwhile, IGN reported last week that the "Rise of the Tomb Raider" demo is now available for download on XBox One. The trial will require 21GB worth of space on the hard drive. This free download was pretty timely, as Attack of the Fanboy reports that "Rise of the Tomb Raider" was the best-selling digital Xbox One game during the holiday week. Other games that made the list are "Star Wars Battlefront", "Gears of War: Ultimate Edition", "Minecraft", "Ori and the Blind Forest", "Need for Speed", "Grand Theft Auto V", "Call of Duty: Black Ops 3", "Madden NFL 16", and "Kinect Sports Rivals".
