Former "Glee" actor Mark Salling has been arrested for possession of child pornography at his home in Sunland, California.
In a report by TMZ, the Los Angeles Police Department's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force unit went to Salling's home on Sunday with a search warrant. The authorities found over a thousand of indecent photos of children on the actor's computer. The alleged sexual exploitation of children could land Salling in Jail for at least five years.
According to TMZ, the photos that were gathered by the authorities were very disturbing. There were more than 100 photos of children as young as 10 engaging in sexual acts.
LAPD's media spokesperson, officer Liliana Preciado confirmed the arrest of the actor stated that Salling was booked in Los Angeles. According to the records of the Los Angeles County Sheriff's office, Salling is already out on a $20,000 bail and verified his court date on Jan. 22, 2016.
It was reported through a source from TMZ that Salling's ex-girlfriend told cops about the actor's hidden secrets. After an intensive investigation made by the police to legitimize the accusation and make sure it was not some sort of a revenge allegation, police take action right away, the news outlet reported.
Salling has had legal problems in the past. A woman in 2013 sued the actor for forcing himself in her without any protection, which was later denied by the former Glee star. Sexual battery was filed against him but was eventually dropped after the case was settled. There were reports that Salling paid $2.7 million for the settlement.
According to a report by Enstarz, Salling's recent known girlfriend was Denyse Tontz from Big Time Rush; however the couple has ended their relationship in 2014. It has not yet confirmed if it was Tontz who tipped off the police. The authorities did not release the name of the tipster as of the moment.
The actor has been linked to many women in the past including Audrina Patridge, Selena Gomez, Nina Dobrev, Naya Rivera and Lea Michele.
According to Crime Watch, who reported the shocking news first, authorities were having a hard time getting into Salling's home as they used a battering ram because he would not let the police in. Authorities reportedly confiscated the actor's computer and some storage device because he would not provide them his password.
The news outlet tried to contact Salling's representatives for comments about the issue but failed to hear anything from them.
