With the year 2015 now in the books and with another great year ahead, what better way to start 2016 with a renewed sense of purpose than to start losing weight--- never mind that it's the most time-worn new year's resolution, never mind that it's one of those promises we make with ourselves that we keep on breaking on an annual basis. Anyhow, here are some of the weight loss tips to help you out in trying to kickstart your 2016.
Get on the Weighing Scale on a Daily Basis
Perhaps, one of the most hated implements in the world is the weighing scale--- yeah, those liars which keep on fabricating ridiculous numbers that just ruin our day. Or, maybe, it is better we start accepting the cold hard truth and treating those poor weighing scale as good friends.
According to a new research, the optimal frequency for weighing oneself is likely every day, USA Today reported. New studies have shown that people who weigh themselves every day were more likely to lose significant weight and then keep it off. People tend to act on it when they see pattern when it comes to their weight.
Eat Right As Opposed to Going Hungry
Most of the people who go on diet have this notion that they would have to starve themselves to death in order to lose weight. But, according to Mike Berland, author of the book "Become a Fat-Burning Machine: The 12-Week Diet: Lose the Belly, End Sugar Cravings, Gain Energy, Overcome Metabolic Syndrome," being hungry is exactly the wrong feeling for sustainable weight loss and a healthy lifestyle, notes ABC News.
Berland recommends eating complex carbohydrates loaded with vitamins, minerals, and phytochemicals, combined with fat and protein to aid in the metabolism. A good breakfast and fat-burning snacks should also be taken for high energy, reduction of fat storing, and keeping hunger low.
Make Healthy Foods Desirable to your Palate
Most healthy foods that also help in weight loss tend to be less appealing to our taste as compared to the yummy foods that tend to ruin our figure. Berland says that the trick is to train your palate to like these healthy foods like veggies by eating or preparing them in ways that you could make them more appetizing to you.
Eliminate You Trigger Foods
According to an article from Mara Schiavocampo, an ABC News correspondent and author of the book "Thinspired: How I Lost 90 Pounds -- My Plan for Lasting Weight Loss and Self-Acceptance," it helps to know your own worst enemy when it comes to losing weight. It is best to take note of the so-called trigger foods that leads to binge eating on your part, such as sweet and processed foods. She advised taking a more manageable time-frame in eliminating them from one's diet.
Drink Up
Researchers at the University of Birmingham in Britain, led by Dr. Helen M. Parretti found out that those who drink water and, then, imagine themselves with a full stomach before eating lose pounds by about 9 1/2 pounds each over a 12-week period, according to LA Times.
