Steve Harvey's humiliating coronation of the wrong Miss Universe winner last month continues to make waves globally, whether on the Internet via memes, or through burning effigies. In fact, Cinemablend reports that some Colombians spent New Year's Eve burning effigies of both Steve Harvey and Miss Universe Pia Wurtzbach.

The burning of effigies, which is locally called Año Viejo in Colombia, is usually done during the New Year to ward off bad luck.

Meanwhile, it seems that Miss Universe is shaking off any negative feelings that Colombians or Miss Colombia fans may be feeling towards her. People reports that the 26-year-old made an appearance on Good Morning America, where she responded to claims that she should share her crown with Miss Colombia, Ariadna Gutierrez-Arévalo.

"I think it would be a little bit difficult for two girls to share a crown," Wurtzbach admitted, but she said that she completely understands why Colombians are upset about the coronation. Nonetheless, she said, "I have high hopes that this will give great opportunities for me and Miss Colombia."

Inquisitr reports that Miss Colombia is criticizing the way Harvey and the pageant, saying, "There are a thousand ways to do things. They could have done it, I don’t know, the next day in a press conference or a press release. They did not do things the right way."

Gutierrez-Arévalo added that she thought Harvey was initially fooling around, saying, "I thought it was a joke. In the rehearsals, he did things like that."

CNN also reports that according to the 22-year-old, "It has been very hard for me, truly, it has been a great shock because it is a dream I fought for."

"I have always dreamed of this, of being Miss Universe," she said during an interview with W Radio. "It was very humiliating for me."

While on Good Morning America, Wurtzbach said of Gutierrez-Arévalo, "I understand how she feels. I know that she's a beautiful young lady—very talented. I think that she'll have a lot of other opportunities."

Speaking of opportunities, Miss Colombia admitted that she has been receiving several job offers and a number of opportunities to work in the United States. Moving forward, she decided to keep a positive outlook.

Miss Colombia said, "I managed to make history, which I think is more important than winning the Miss Universe title."

Wurtzbach, on the other hand, is gearing up for a busy year of work as Miss Universe. The 26-year-old will be focusing on several causes, including HIV awareness. But for now, she's "excited" to work in her new capacity as Miss Universe.
