Keeping your skin clean and healthy does not have to be expensive. Here are a few practical tips from celebs and everyday Latinas swear by.
1. Cleanse during the evenings
Regardless of how hectic your work schedule is, get your face cleaned every evening. "The most important thing is not sleeping in my makeup," singer Demi Lovato told Allure.
The Latina celebrity has a strict routine which includes using wipes to remove makeup then using a scrub to clean the skin's pores. Next, she uses a moisturizing toner before applying a night cream.
If you feel too tired to do all of that at the end of the day, Thalia has a simpler suggestion: use wipes. PopSugar says this will help remove all of the impurities that the skin has absorbed over the course of the day.
Salma Hayek believes that women should only wash their face during the evenings. "Because at night your skin is rebuilding the oils that you need to keep your skin young," the 49-year-old revealed to Latina reporters.
2. Eat fruits and vegetables
Fruits and green leafy vegetables are rich in vitamins and minerals which can help keep your body healthy and clean, inside and out. Just ask Stacey Dash.
The stunning half-Mexican actress admitted to Latina interviewers that she eats a lot of brown rice, proteins, fruits and vegetables instead of bread.
3. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize
Thalia has learned this tip from her own mother who admittedly kept "skyscrapers of creams." The actress herself says she has different creams for different purposes.
PopSugar says the actress' mother has creams from the moment she wakes up until right before she sleeps. Thalia herself has developed her own set of creams.
She has heavy creams rich in antioxidants, peptides, and vitamins. In case of a rosacea flare up, she switches to lighter creams that can soothe her skin.
If you want to go all-natural, Cosmopolitan has a couple of suggestions. One is by creating a facemask out of red grapes and white powder.
Apply the paste on your face and leave it for 10 minutes before rinsing it off. This paste can help rejuvenate tired skin.
In Colombia, a well-known recipe involves missing strawberries with honey and yogurt. Leave on the skin for 20 minutes before washing it off.
4. Use oil on your hair
Your skin is not the only area on your body that needs pampering. One quick way to keep your locks strong and healthy is to apply olive oil.
Cosmopolitan says that in Puerto Rico, women have been using olive oil on their scalp and nails for years. For Thalia, she recommends using coconut oil as a moisturizer.
Both are quick and easy to use and won't cost you a bundle.
5. Chop up garlic
Keep brittle nails at bay by chopping up fresh garlic and mixing it with clear nail polish. Ladies from the Dominican Republic say that garlic is incredibly effective in strengthening nails.
