There have been a lot of rumors and speculations about another "Indiana Jones" film coming soon, but most of them were proven untrue until recently when Disney bought Lucasfilm and announced that "Indiana Jones 5" is really going to happen.

Cinematographer Janusz Kaminski, during an interview with Variety, revealed, though unintentionally, that his "next project is the upcoming fifth Indiana Jones movie."

Because of this announcement, fans have been busy figuring out who will play the role of Indiana Jones. Will it still be Harrison Ford, who has made a name for the iconic role, or will someone replace him? Here are five of the plausible actors who may be the next Indy, per MoviePilot.

1. Bradley Cooper

First on the list is the "Silver Linings Playbook" star Bradley Cooper, who, per MoviePilot, has the looks and the charm to play as the next Indiana Jones. Cooper has a rich, diverse portfolio in action films and is currently not attached to any movie franchises as of the moment. Back in March, a rumor surfaced from Latino Review that the creative team is allegedly eyeing Cooper for the lead role, but the "American Sniper" star has not signed any contract yet.

2. Chris Pratt

Another contender to lead "Indiana Jones 5" is Chris Pratt. Deadline previously noted that Steven Spielberg, who is the director of "Indiana Jones" and producer of "Jurassic World," was impressed on Pratt's acting and is considering him to star for the next "Indiana Jones" reboot. However, according to MoviePilot, there's a tiny problem, Pratt is signed with "Jurrasic World" and "Guardians of the Galaxy" franchises, so a third franchise will be a bit hard in terms of time.

3. Hugh Jackman

Just like Cooper, Hugh Jackman also has the looks and ruggedness to play Indiana Jones. Jackman has played Wolverine for the "X-Men" franchise and will end his superhero stint in 2017, giving him ample time to be the next Indiana Jones.

4. Michael Fassbender

The German-Irish actor may not fit the Harrison Ford profile in terms of looks, but if the creative team would like to spin things up a bit and stray from what fans would expect, then the "X-Men: Apocalypse" actor will be the best bet. MoviePilot notes that Fassbender has the "acting chops to do the role justice."

5. Karl Urban

Wrapping up the list for the next Indiana Jones is Karl Urban, who, as per the news outlet, has proven his flexibility in playing diverse roles. Urban has played McCoy in "Star Trek" and Judge Dredd in "Dredd," so apart from his looks, which fits Indy perfectly, he can also bring something new to the table for "Indiana Jones 5."
