Late last year, Janet Jackson fans were excited to find out that the performer was finally hitting the road to tour again after four years of being inactive. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the 49-year-old was ordered to rest by her doctor, and on Christmas Eve, she announced that the entire "Unbreakable" tour was canceled because she had to undergo surgery.

Daily Mail reported that the performer did not disclose any details about the medical procedure, leading fans and followers to believe that she had a serious health condition.

Celebrity Health Fitness reported that Jackson may have throat cancer after doctors found a tumor in her throat. Dr. Stuart Fischer commented that "God forbid that this should be cancer of the larynx. That would abruptly end her ability to ever perform again. Singing would be impossible. Surgery would be very complex, followed by months of radiation treatment."

Meanwhile, Jackson has maintained her 60-pound weight loss throughout her recent health struggles, as the Examiner reports that the performer credits a low glycemic index diet for her weight loss. This diet is based on managing blood sugar levels.

"I think people really connect with the idea of someone who has gained and lost weight in this very public way, and also someone who's an emotional eater. Chocolate, cake, caramel apples—there aren't many things I don't love," Jackson told Prevention in 2012, admitting that she was very close to being diabetic at her heaviest weight.

"Knowing I have these problems with body image, I ask my friends and family to tell me when I've lost too much too," the performer shared. "Because I will continue to pick on myself, like all women do, and say, You need to [lose] more here, more there."

Now, however, Jackson is happy with her weight, saying, "It's about looking in the mirror and saying, 'I feel good. I feel healthy.'"

Speaking of healthy, CNN reports that Jackson finally broke her silence about the throat cancer rumors, releasing a video via Twitter, in which she denies such claims.

"The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I am recovering," Jackson said. "Thank you for your prayers and love."

Her publicity team also addressed the rumors, taking to Twitter to announce, "It was Janet's wish not to make any further comments about her health, however, because of the great concern from around the world, Janet will be releasing a personal message shortly."

Back in December, the singer asked her fans, "Please pray for me, my family and our entire company during this difficult time."

It seems like those prayers have been answered, and the singer may be able to get back on stage sooner rather than later.
