It was a dramatic December for the Kardashian clan as Kim gave birth to a second child and her brother, Rob, was reported to have been diagnosed with diabetes, CNN reported. The only Kardashian son has been off the radar for quite some time, shying away from "Keeping Up with Kardashians" and opting to live a private life. However, paparazzi photos of the 28-year-old showed that he had put on some weight.

According to E! News, a source claims that the diabetes diagnosis was a "wake-up call" for the reality TV star. Khloe told People in October, "Rob is such a great guy. "He's charming, charismatic, everything. That's what's so infuriating. I'm like, 'Where is your will to live life? Let's be around people!'"

People reports that Rob had been battling depression and weight issues after gaining over 100 pounds. Khloe shared, "I've been working on my patience. I've been really trying. But I have my moments and I do snap. I've offered to get a chef, I'm like, 'What's your excuse?' But it's not just that. I can't win life for Rob. I have to wait until [he's] ready to do it for himself."

"It's sad, because he's only wasting his life more and more," the 31-year-old said. "But he has to figure it out for himself. And he has so many people who want to help him."

Meanwhile, Yahoo! News reports that according to an insider, Kris Jenner and her brood are ready to stage a family intervention to help Rob with his health issues.

"He agreed he will do follow-up doctors’ appointments and he’s taking medication to control his blood sugar," the insider said of the sock designer. However, it seems that his efforts aren't enough for his family.

"They’re concerned he’s not taking the situation seriously," the insider said.

An unnamed friend of Rob told Us Weekly, "They’re planning on doing an intervention with him. He’s detached himself from everyone. Nobody knows what’s going on with him until it’s too late."

Back in April, Kris explained on "Keeping Up with the Kardashians," "I feel like if I don’t help him do something drastic that he’s going to die."

Rob is reportedly working with celebrity trainer Gunnar Peterson, who also helped his sister, Khloe, shed pounds. He has shed over 15 pounds so far and is following a personalized eating plan, as per Us Weekly.
