Lose 6-10 Lbs In 2 Weeks With the Mayo Clinic Diet

The Mayo Clinic Diet promises to help individuals lose up to 10 pounds in two weeks and an additional one to two pounds a week after reaching the target weight.
US News lists the Mayo Clinic Diet as the Best Commercial Diet and the 4th Best Diet Overall for 2015. A total of 38 different diets were analyzed and scrutinized, including the six-time winner the DASH Diet, and the MIND Diet.
In a press release published on Newswise, experts suggest seeing the endeavor as more than just a goal for the new year. Dr. Donald Hensrud, medical editor-in-chief of the diet says the program is designed to help individuals see healthy eating as a long-term commitment.
"Achieving and maintaining a healthy weight is best accomplished through a lifestyle approach," he stated in the press release.
Experts from Huffington Post believe that other than losing weight, the diet is also effective in reducing the chances of developing diabetes.
In a report by News-Medical, following the Mayo Clinic Diet involves buying the book of the same name and an online program. This online program offers dieters access to recipes, meal plans, exercises, fitness plans and an app for iOS devices.
The Mayo Clinic Diet is split into two parts. Labeled the "Lose it!" phase, US News states the first two weeks involves following a total of 15 important habits.
There is no calorie counting involved; dieters can eat as much fruit and vegetables as they want provided that they control the amount of high-calorie foods they consume. As part of the program, the medical news publication says people are advised to exercise for 30 minutes on most days.
The exercise is not just for losing the weight but also to improve the individual's overall health.
"When you make even small changes in your diet and exercise habits, you decrease your health risks from many conditions, including diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure and sleep apnea," Dr. Hensrud added during the press release.
The "Live it!" phase of the program is essentially the same as the first but here, US News says individuals are allowed to cheat a bit. Instead of counting calories, dieters are taught portion control.
For example, individuals who are on a 1,400-calorie plan are allowed four servings of fruits and vegetables with four servings of proteins. The definition of servings varies as a tennis ball-sized fruit is the same as a piece of meat the size of a deck of cards.
Designed by one of the most prestigious medical institutions in the country, the Mayo Clinic Diet offers dieters a way of losing weight in the long run without putting excessive limitations on what a person can eat to stay healthy.
