The release for the highly anticipated "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" for PS4 has been moved to April 2016.

"Uncharted 4" is the last and final game installment featuring the adventures of Nathan Drake. According to VG247, it will be a PS4 exclusive game and will be released on April 26, 2016.

It was initially supposed to be released last year but it has been pushed back several times with the latest one announced by game directors Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley on the PlayStation Blog.

"So we've made the difficult choice of pushing the game's release date. Giving us a few extra months will make certain that "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" not only meets the team's high standards but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title," they wrote.

The two adds that they're delaying the release date to "meet the team's high standards" and of the players. They thanked the fans and followers for being patient about it.

The multiplayer beta for "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" was a hit last month. A few fans were able to play the closed beta. However, in order for players to continue playing the game, they need to purchase "Uncharted 4: The Nathan Drake Collection" because it will not have a public open beta, Latin Post reports.

The game's lead designer Robert Cogburn explained why the latest game may be the final.

"This will be our fourth Uncharted game," said Cogburn, as reported by Kotaku. "These games are hard to make. Particularly with a character like Nathan Drake in a world that's fairly grounded, it's a challenge to consider how much more we can expand the universe while adhering to those sorts of rules."

He added that it can be tiring to answer the same kinds of questions for the franchise.

"This is gonna be the fourth time we start answering stuff like, 'How do we make hand-grabs visible? What do we do to scale the combat experience? What are the interesting puzzles we can be introducing in the moment-to-moment as the player's experiencing this narrative?'" he said.

"Uncharted 4" may be the last installment in the series but they're looking forward to introducing fresh new ideas for any new titles in the future.

The PS4 exclusive "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" can be preordered directly from Naughty Dog's game website. There are various editions that fans can choose from.
