According to some experts who were given the task of evaluating different diets for U.S. News, the two standouts were the HMR Program and the Biggest Loser Diet. For those who would want to shed some pounds, these two diet plans could help in losing weight fast.

"While these diets enable quick weight loss for those with a short-term goal - there's a strong chance you'll drop significant weight within the first 12 months - keep in mind that this is markedly different from long-term weight loss, which is more important for your health," wrote US News Health.

The Biggest Loser Diet promises more than just weight loss. Because of its program that consists of eating healthy food and undergoing regular exercise, the weight loss journey of the dieters also serve as a road to a healthier lifestyle. This diet was popularized by the TV series of the same name.

The diet claims to help in preventing or reversing chronic illnesses like diabetes, reducing the risk of cancer, dementia and Alzheimer's, improving your heart health and boosting the immune system. In less than a couple of months, the participants can see the results of their discipline and hard work in terms of cutting calories and working out.

Some of the weight loss principles behind the Biggest Loser diet include eating regular meals that emphasize filling calories from fruits, vegetables, lean protein sources and whole grains; watching your food intake by practicing portion control and making use of a food journal.

The Health Management Resources (HMR) program, meanwhile, claims a steady significant weight loss with as much as three times weight loss through either the medically supervised, in-clinic or at-home options as compared to other diets.

Some of the concepts behind this diet include meal replacements, such as low-calorie shakes, meals, nutrition bars and multigrain hot cereal, which serves as an alternative to your usual food intake. It also encourages eating fruits and vegetables, which are naturally low in calories.

This form of diet, just like the Biggest Loser diet, also promotes incorporating healthy lifestyle in your weight loss efforts. Although, the HMR is less physically draining than the Biggest Loser diet.

"The HMR Diet works by using a modified form of the VLCD (very low calorie diet) diet that uses HMR meal replacements. Recommended physical activity that complements the diet is limited to daily walks of approximately 30 minutes," according to Emax Health.
