Angela Raiola, better known as Big Ang, rose to fame when she appeared in the VH1 reality series "Mob Wives." In 2012, she received her own spin-off titled "Big Ang." She is the niece of Salvatore "Sally Dogs" Lombardi, the late captain of the Genovese crime family. Raiola was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York with her two sisters and four brothers, and is now a mother of two herself.
Back in December, ET Online reported that following two surgeries in 2015, Raiola's throat cancer had come back. Doctors had found another cancerous lump in her throat during a checkup and because of her condition, she managed to successfully stop smoking.
"I stopped the day I found out [about my diagnosis]," Raiola, who smoked for 40 years, admitted. "I just stopped at that second. I didn't think I would ever be able to quit smoking in my life."
Meanwhile, Celebrity Dirty Laundry claimed that the 55-year-old star invested $25,000 on breast implants to make her bosom look great for her son's wedding. She even asked wedding planner David Tutera to pick out the dress that would highlight her new breasts. While Tutera suggested a more conservative and appropriate dress for her, the reality TV star refused and insisted that she wanted to wear something low cut that shows off her cleavage.
"I want a Kardashian look for my wedding dress," Raiola said. "I want something sexy and tight to show off everything. They don’t budge. They are not flopping at all. They did a great job; you really do get what you pay for."
In the United States alone, about 102,215 reconstructive breast procedures were undertaken in 2014, as per the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. 552 of these procedures were done on girls aged 13 to 19, while 2,685 of them were women aged 20 to 29. 12,287 were women in the age group of 30 to 39, while 33,873 were 55 and over. A large chunk of these procedures (52,818) were done on women aged 40 to 54. Such procedures include implants and tissue expanders, among others.
The ASPS also reported that breast augmentation still remains to be the number one cosmetic surgical procedure of 2014, with 286,000 procedures performed. This statistic has gone down by 1% since 2013. The other four most common cosmetic surgical procedures include nose reshaping, liposuction, eyelid surgery, and facelift.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ASAPS), Americans alone spent over 12 billion for surgical and nonsurgical procedures in 2014, so it is not surprising that celebrities and reality stars are spending serious amounts of money on plastic surgery.
