Disney and Lucasfilm were reported to have auditioned more than 2,000 actors for the role of a young Han Solo. Variety reports that the production studios screened male aspirants as young as 17 to as old as 34 for the yet to be titled "Star Wars" spinoff, which is already set for a May 25, 2018 release.

But, even before the audition took off, Anthony Ingruber's name has already stood out, and a lot of "Star Wars" fans have been clamoring for the actor to fill the shoes of the great Harrison Ford.

Ingruber first got the attention of fans when he played the younger version of Harrison Ford's character in Lee Toland Krieger's 2015 film "The Age Of Adaline," which stars Blake Lively and Michiel Huisman.

His uncanny resemblance and spot on portrayal of his role earned admiration from a lot of fans prompting them to push for his inclusion in the "Star Wars" franchise. You can check out the YouTube video below for one of his spot-on impersonations of the seasoned actor.

The 25-year-old Canadian actor said that he was overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and encouraging words from "Star Wars" fans for his role in "The Age Of Adaline" and expressed his desire to play the role of a young Han Solo.

"I would love to portray the young Han Solo in the upcoming film; the fan enthusiasm has been really terrific and I have received so many messages from people telling me how much they would love to have me portray this character," Ingruber told WhatCulture in an interview.

"It's very touching to hear from lifelong Star Wars fans that after seeing The Age Of Adaline, they wholeheartedly trust me to deliver the performance the fans expect and want."

Unfortunately for Ingruber's fans, it seems like the film execs have already narrowed down the list of actors who could play the role. Names that were included in the shortlist belong to Miles Teller, Ansel Elgort, Dave Franco, Jack Reynor, Scott Eastwood, Logan Lerman, Emory Cohen and Blake Jenner, among others.

As for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" director J.J. Abrams, he did not exactly reveal who he was rooting for to take on the young Han Solo role but offered an advice to the chosen one. "Watch "Raiders of the Lost Ark" It'll all be right there," he told Variety.

And for the original Han Solo, he was not too keen on giving pointers and having a pick on who he thinks should replace him. "No, I'm not going to do that," Ford said when asked about it. "I don't think it's about being like me, it's about us being like Han Solo.
