'LG G5' Specs, Price & Release Date: Smartphone Trumps Samsung Galaxy S6 With Modular Design, Removable Battery [Rumors]

A new rumor has come into the light, saying that a new and upcoming flagship smartphone from LG will feature a new modular body design that will allow for a removable battery.
In the pursuit of releasing thinner, more beautifully-designed smartphones, tech companies such as Samsung and Apple have abandoned the use of removable batteries. If the rumor is true, LG will break that cycle.
The rumor comes by courtesy of CNET Korea, who has received information from a source that LG's upcoming flagship, the G5, will feature a modular unibody design made of metal, a pull-out battery and some more changes in regards to the buttons found at the back of the predecessor.
First, the upcoming G5's modular body is rumored to have a “drawer method” of pulling out the battery from the bottom end of the phone. Apparently, this means that the G5 will be unlike earlier phones, including the G4, in which the battery is taken out by means of opening a rear plastic or fabric case.
Next, the USB port and headphone jack will remain at the bottom end of the smartphone's body. This means that they can both be disconnected and reconnected from the phone's motherboard anytime.
Button layouts will be changed as well, to help in making a thinner phone body. The power button will be moved to the side, away from its former location at the back. The volume rocker is said to be moved to the side as well.
Now, all that is found at the back panel of the G5 is the rear camera, and a fingerprint scanner.
Although the button rumors seem possible, the battery design seems unlikely, reports CNET. However, it does spark well-deserved interest.
Additionally, this rumored approach in the use of a modular design seems ironic, reports Forbes. This is because while earlier modular prototype designs look quite ugly, it is now successfully used to solve a design problem.
Other rumored specifications include a Snapdragon 820 processor, a 5.3-inch Quad HD display, a secondary ticker display and a 16-megapixel dual rear camera, reports the Android Authority.
Currently, these are but rumors. Fans will get to have confirmed details once LG unveils its “next flagship model,” the G5, at the Mobile World Congress on Feb. 21 in Barcelona, Spain.
