Two days before David Bowie died, he was still able to release his latest and last album entitled "Blackstar"—and it sells like hotcakes. No wonder why it debuted number one on the Billboard charts.

"Blackstar" is Bowie's first ever U.S. chart-topper album. This is also his first-ever posthumous album to be hailed as number one after Michael Jackson's 2009 hit soundtrack entitled "This Is It," according to Yahoo News.

"Blackstar" is not the only one from Bowie's discography that gained popularity. Even his 2002 hits collection entitled "Best of Bowie" landed number four on Billboard Charts. This made David Bowie one of the few artists who have two albums in the top five.

Billboard reported that ISO/Columbia Records issued "Blackstar." In the U.S. alone, the album earned 181,000 equivalent album units—174,000 of this were merely album sales. Looking back since Nielsen Music started electronically tracking point-of-sale music purchases since the year 1991, it is the biggest sales week of Bowie for an album.

Having "Blackstar" and "Best of Bowie" in the top five is not the only proof that fans were really touched by the artists' death on Jan. 10. Eight more albums of Bowie entered the Billboard 200 chart. The Voice of America indicated that among these eight other Bowie's albums are the 1972 classic entitled "The Rise and Fall Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars," which ranked as number 21.

Even when "Blackstar" garnered a lot of album sales, ranked as number 1 on Billboard Chart and loved by the crowd, it did not escape criticisms. Among the ones noted by the critics are the album's prescient lyrics and exploratory sounds.

The lyrics in the "Blackstar" seems to signal his death. A song in his album entitled "Lazarus" has a line that states "This way or no way, you know, I'll be free" and according to the critics, this line is hinting that he is about to move to another chapter of life.

It was a shock for most people to know that Bowie had been battling cancer all this time. Bowie only revealed his health condition to a few close friends while he was busy working on his last album and his song "Lazarus."

Without a doubt, Bowie left the best treasure to his loved ones and fans before he finally left the world.
