Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm Rematch: UFC's Former Champion Ronda Rousey Ready For Retirement?
- comments
Ronda Rousey will not be part of the UFC 200 because of her busy schedule but she said that she plans to be back inside the octagon for a rematch with Holly Holm.
Despite rumors that she will be retiring, the former UFC women's bantamweight champion said that she will be back this 2016, and a rematch with Holly Holm will definitely happen, TMZ Sports reported.
Ronda Rousey made it clear that she wants another one-on-one with Holly Holm. Details of the fight have not been announced but Rousey and UFC president Dana White are reportedly trying to determine a promo date.
"They haven't told me an exact date or location. It's a decision we're all going to make together. I'm kind of waiting to hear from them on what options they're going to give me," Rousey said during a quick interview with TMZ Sports.
According to an article by News Australia, Rousey currently has a lot on her plate after signing a movie deal with Tina Fey. The famous sportswoman will be doing a film with a title "Do Nothing B-ches."
Apart from her starring role with comedian/host Tina Fey, Rousey will also be part of the upcoming "Road House" remake, which will be directed by Nick Cassavetes. Her biopic "My Fight/Your Fight" under Paramount is also currently being developed, Deadline reported.
Another project in Rousey's book will be a feature in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit 2016 issue, the magazine confirmed. This time, the MMA fighter will be posing in front of the cameras wearing nothing but body paint. Rousey was part of last year's SI Swimsuit issue, in which she talked about how the "strong and healthy" trend is slowly changing society's perception of an ideal body image.
Since Rousey will be in hiatus for a while, UFC booked Holm to defend her title against Miesha Tate, which will happen at UFC 197 on March 5.
Holm's coach Mike Winkeljohn did an interview with Submission Radio and said that Holm will fight whoever she would be put up against. He said that Holm has a "Cowboy Cerrone mentality" because of her eagerness to fight.
"Let's have her fight. We will go fight whoever they give us. Show the world that it's not one-and-done with Holly Holm, that she can destroy the next person. Then, if Ronda has the guts to do it again, let's do it again for some big money. That's great for those girls," Winkeljohn said.
