Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most popular actresses of today. After the success of the "Hunger Games" series, the Academy Award winner has been the most sought-after actress in the film industry.
A new buzz in Hollywood suggests that she will be in another movie called "Marita," wherein she will play the role of Fidel Castro's lover, Hollywood Reporter reported.
Lawrence will be portraying Marita Lorenz in the new biopic. Lorenz was an American spy who was born in Germany. She was once dubbed as "the female James Bond." In the peak of the cold war in 1960, Lorenz was hired by the CIA to go to Cuba and kill Fidel Castro. The spy failed to carry out the assassination of Cuba's longest running president.
Castro, who was the prime minister of the Caribbean country at that time, met Lorenz in 1959. The Cuban revolution had just ended during their first meeting, when she went to Havana with her father. Lorenz, who was 19 at that time, became Castro's lover but the two parted ways when he found out that she had an abortion with his child.
Lorenz was recruited by the CIA during that time and became the agency's prospect to kill Castro. She went back to Cuba with the intent to kill her former lover but failed to carry out the mission. She confessed the agency's plan to kill the prime minister after telling him she is still in love with him.
Although the production of the movie has not started yet, the studio has already been set up. Sony is very excited with the project and hopes to find a suitable director to do the film.
Vanity Fair reported Lorenz once claimed to have spoken with Lee Harvey Oswald before the assassination of John F. Kennedy. She also said that she had children from both Castro and Marcos Pérez Jiménez, a Venezuelan dictator.
All these claims have added mystery to Lorenz's life.
Meanwhile, Lawrence has just won the Golden Globe Award for the movie "Joy," wherein she is also being nominated for an Oscar. There are currently many projects waiting for the award winning actress. She definitely has come a long way from her role as Lauren Pearson in the TBS show "The Bill Engvall Show."
Fans will also see her in the next "X-men" installment, "Apocalypse." She is also set to make a movie with Steven Spielberg in a film "It's What I Do."
