The much-anticipated and free "Star Wars: Battlefront" DLC update is ready for release. It will be packed with a lot of features like a new Tatooine map, daily challenges and more.
PlayStation Lifestyle reported that the release was confirmed by EA Brazil via a video post, which has since been deleted. However, those who were able to watch the leaked video cited the following features that are to be expected in the DLC packs:
- A new map of Tatooine.
- New clothes for Luke and Leia from the movies
- Daily challenges
- Private matches
- Special community events
Fans of the game are convinced that the leak is authentic and they have been discussing this on Reddit.
WCCF Tech reported that the release is happening this month and the enumerated features are not going to be included in the Season Pass. Also, it has not been confirmed yet if these features are included in any of the expansion packs that must be purchased for additional contents.
This is not the first free DLC release for the game as "Star Wars: Battlefront" already came out with the "Battle of Jakku" DLC even before "Star Wars: Battlefront" was launched last November 2015. However, this was only made available to gamers who pre-ordered the game at that time, WCCF Tech reported further.
However, on Jan. 19, EA announced that they are finally going to include the "Battle of Jakku" DLC in its January update. "While we do not have a specific day, date, or time to share right this moment, I can say this update is coming," wrote "Star Wars: Battlefront" community manager Sledgehammer 70 on the EA site.
The "Battle of Jakku" DLC features two new maps for Walker Assault and Supremacy and new game modes. The community manager also promised that gamers will be receiving their Heroes' Holiday rewards this January.
Meanwhile, Gotta Be Mobile cited that EA also hinted of other contents to the free DLC last week. In posting about the January updates, the community manager said that gamers will get "a special reward that directly ties to Han Solo and Luke Skywalker."
The news outlet also reported that more updates are expected -- both paid and free -- as the company previously announced it will be delivering additional expansion packs, maps, characters and game modes for the rest of 2015.
"Star Wars: Battlefront" is an action-shooting game both for single-player and multi-player enjoyment. It is supported in the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Microsoft Windows platform.
